Remember when I said I wanted to turn this more into a general art blog? Here we go. :D
Jared and I have a project for this year.
Create two children's books.
I know, I know. Some of you out there doubt my ability to not draw penises on everything. I'll show you. >:| Anyway, I thought that I'd take a picture out of my sketchbook (it happened to be Thrall, king of the orcs from World of Warcraft) and experiment with what kind of lineart I want to use for it. The color is inaccurate and really basic, but it was just thrown on for fun (I'm trying to set photoshop up like how I had openCanvas).
First, let me say that it sucks that you can't put pictures into post without first putting them into your gallery. :\ FIX THAT, VOX. And allowing html would be rad. That being said, I'm only putting this in my gallery for a short while... because I feel the need to show off.
I've been playing WoW a lot lately and I am ALL about The Horde (The Alliance is a bunch of cocksuckers). So the next logical step for me is to create something Horde inspired so that I can clap and dance around it like an idiot.
So what do I decide to create? That. That right there. The crest is huge and insane and has animal skins and feathers on it. AND I NEED IT.
So a week ago I set out to construct this monster out of several different types of foam, leather, suede and lots and lots of gesso (Also, I stole several feathers from our geese who are shedding this season).
Four days and several hot glue gun burns later I come up with the base.. and I do a little victory dance around it.
Hmm.. I'd like to apologise for the pictures, everything seems a little washed out. :[ But I worked very hard to make textures and age the bones, horns, and shield.. And to make the little purple guys look like wood. :|
Aren't they cute?
Like I said.. it's all made out of pink insulation foam or green floral foam and covered in gesso. So it weighs maybe three pounds all together so far.
The shield I'm currently working on is proving to be a little tricky, though. :[ I'm not a sculpter.. and I don't pretend to be one. My hands are small and my fingers are retardedly short. So the paper clay in the middle was very ugly until I sanded that sucker down.
So.. Uh.. playing the game and creating this is what is currently eating my free time.
I'll get back to making costumes when I finish this or get bored with Warcraft. ;D Whichever comes first. On the con front.. Ani-Magic is a go! (Jeez, it seems like we just had AX) So Momo and I will defineltly be attention whoring it up in Lancaster.
